FAQs and Terms & Conditions
1. What is the package fee? What does the package include?
Package Fee for each person includes: • Hotel room with daily breakfast; 1. Twin Room: Two twin beds (approx. 99cm*190 cm, for reference only) 2. Double Room: One double bed (approx. 137cm*190cm, for reference only) 3. Triple Room: in Istanbul, triple room is a Twin/Double Room + a sofa bed • Limited Transportation: i.e. Only the bus from the hotel to the Award Ceremony venue and back to the hotel. 1. No airport transfer will be arranged. 2. Please note that you can choose to bring and pick-up the student to/from the contest venue yourself. • Award Ceremony: 1. Ceremony Ticket 2. Ceremony Buffet lunch The ceremony ticket is included in the package and cannot be sold separately. No ceremony ticket, no entry to ceremony—no exceptions.
2. What does the student's Contest Fee include?
Contest Fees for each student includes: • The Contest itself; • Free gifts, Goodie bag and t-shirt; • Buffet Lunch during competition day(s); • Limited transportation (i.e. the bus from the hotel to the exam venue and back).
3. What do parents need to do when registering the STEAM Ahead? What if I cannot travel with my kid(s)?
Every guardian is required to complete the PGA TRAVEL AND TRIP RISK ACKNOWLEDGEMENT/LIABILITY WAIVER FORM. If a guardian does not accompany the participant to STEAM Ahead: 1. An additional fee will be required; For students under 18 years old joining the STEAM Ahead competition, if their parent/guardian cannot accompany them, they will need to pay an extra fee. This fee includes NZD $1980 plus NZD $500 per day, in addition to the STEAM Ahead Fees, with no maximum limit on the number of days or total cost. You must be fully aware of and accept the potential risks of going to the host country by reading the Official advice for New Zealanders: https://www.safetravel.govt.nz/t%C3%BCrkiye , and taking full responsibility for any additional costs that may occur. 2. If a guardian entrusts someone else to take care of their child, in addition to the additional fee mentioned above, they must also complete the Child-Travel-Consent-Form.
4. Does any of the Fees include any insurance?
Insurance is NOT included in any of the fees. It is compulsary for each person to purchase their own insurance for the event. PGA is not responsible for, nor will it be held liable for, any injury, damage or loss suffered on account of any conditions, actions or omissions that are beyond its reasonable control during the whole trip of STEAM Ahead. 5. Anything I need to wear or to bring?
Wear STEAM Ahead T-shirt on the competition day. Must remember to bring along your contest pass, pencil, and eraser. Please wear your ethnic costume during the award ceremony day. Parents need to wear smart casual. Please bring along a photocopy of the passport for the hotel registration.
6. Our family is going. Can we book Triple occupancy rooms?​
Triple occupancy rooms are available based on first-come-first-serve basis. All request for additional rooms not within this period, or in other room categories will be subject to room availability and terms to be agreed upon.
7. What will the triple room be like?
For STEAM Ahead 2024, in Istanbul, their triple room is twin/double room + one sofa bed which can be extended into a bed.
8. Check-in and Check-out Date and time?
Check-in time is from 15:00 hours. Check-in before 15:00 hours is subject to room availability. Check-out time is before 11:00 hours. All late check-out requests after 11:00 hours are subject to availability and there will be additional charges from the hotels for late check-out. All standard package is base on 5 days 4 night. Guests will be responsible for handling any room extensions individually unless the majority or all of them opt to extend their stay together. Additionally, please note that the room rate may vary for the extended day. PGA reserves the right to adjust the package price in case the hotel room rate increases due to late registration.
9. What is the Cancellation Policy?
PGA reserves the right to charge full amount of the package for any cancellation.
10. Any charges incurred in the event of a confirmed reservation being a no-show?
Should there be no-show for confirmed reservation; a charge for full package will be levied as no-show charge.
11. What is the Refund policy?
No refund is allowed once the registration is submitted as we are unable to request for refund from the hotel, transportation partner and other arrangements.
12. Airport transportation for arrival and departure?
Unfortunately, NO airport transportation arrangements included in the fees.
13. Who is responsible for my safety?
Students and parents should be responsible for their personal safety. PGA's major responsibility is organizing the competition itself, and do not have duty of care to students' or travellers' trip. Please refer to PGA TRAVEL AND TRIP RISK ACKNOWLEDGEMENT/LIABILITY WAIVER FORM for more information.
14. STEAM Ahead 2024 - Do I need a visa to enter Türkiye?
People's Republic of China: Chinese Ordinary passport holders are required to have 30 days single entry e-Visa. You can obtain e-Visas via the web site www.evisa.gov.tr. The Turkish government implemented a fee of USD $61.50 for this process (for reference only) New Zealand: Ordinary passport holders are exempt from visa for their travels up to 90 days.
